Agnes is on a roll
19 July 2010, Hungary

Agnes Szavay is on a ten match winning streak which now includes two titles. This past week, Agnes won her second successive tournament, with a victory over Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, in the final of the ECM Prague Open. This is the longest winning streak of Szavay's career, and she is only the second player this year to win titles in back-to-back weeks.

This success comes after Agnes Szavay successfully defended her home title in Hungary. Agi, who was seventh seed at the event, continued to make her country proud as she won the GDF SUEZ Grand Prix for the second year in succession, defeating last year's finalist, Patty Schnyder in straight sets.

"It's unbelievable to win in Hungary again," Szavay added. "The crowd was great, just like last year. To win two times at home, I can't describe this feeling."

Szavay has now won five career title, having previously won at Palermo, Beijing, and in Budapest a year ago. Agnes is currently ranked just inside the top 50 in the Sony WTA Tour rankings, at number 49, which makes her the number one player in Hungary. Such recent results are very promising for Hungary, especially since Marton Fucsovics has recently won the Wimbledon Junior Boys title, taking him to number one in the world junior rankings.
